Need help, please! I bought a house about a year and a half ago and have been renting it out to the same?

people since right after I bought it and now they have moved out. Anyway, before they moved in, I put a brand new bathtub in it. I don’t think they cleaned it the entire time that they were there and I can’t seem to get it clean. It is a plastic-like bath tub. It has a massive amount of soap scum, black marks, and what looks to be rust from sitting a metal can of shaving cream on the edge of the tub or something. Any ideas of anything that may get it clean? I don’t want to have to buy another bath tub if I can avoid it. Help please!

What about CLR. That is supposed to remove rust and everything else. Then I would try a Mr. Clean magic eraser. They work miracles.

Lime Away works, just be careful about the amount used. Bleach will work also.

there’s this stuff called greased lightning you can get at the dollar store or walmart and we use it on our travel trailer to get black streaks off the plastic and its the only stuff that works! its great! it would probably work on your tub as well. Or you could try like purple power or something of the like. its an automotive degreaser, they are usually more heavy duty than tilex, ect. good luck!

try magic eraser from mr. clean, it works on everything. the rust spot may be an issue, if the tub is like plastic you may not get that out. have you tried just an ordinary bathroom cleaner?

There’s a product called “The Works”. It will clean just about anything off a tub, sink or toilet.

Im sorry to hear of your previous tenents not keeping the place clean. Adding soap powder into a run bath and leaving over night to soak can really brighten up a bath and remove all stains, as with viniger too, oxy clean is good for scrubbing, if you dont have any luck then I think you should bill the previous people for a new bath. Sound as if you have a fiberglass tub with a rust stain. Try ‘Iron Out” on the rust stain if the others suggested don’t work. Next best is to contact a boat/marine repair place and ask them what they use to remove stains from fiberglass boats. Good luck.

Try Goof Off on the rust, I’m not sure if it will help on the soap scum, you can try it. It comes in a spray and small ****** bottle form. You may try putting a 1/2 gal of bleach in the tub the filling with hot water and let it sit for several hours. Also I’ve tried this and it does work, the solution that is used for washing cars. I put it on full strength, you may want to apply the use a soft brush to scrub then rinse and see how it looks…

I had a simular problem. The tub felt like it was etched . I bought a product called KaBoom at Lowes HomeDepot has it too. It took me about 5 treatments. But each time i got more and more off. As I sprayed you could see it foam up on the scum. The tub looks and feels like brand new. Bet stuff I ever bought. I tried a lot of the products mentioned in some of the other answers but this was the only one that worked. I even called the company I was so excited. I thought I was coing to have to replace the tub.
