Is it ethical to pay someone less then the price of rent?

At a central Maine’s hospital waiting room a hotline operator and a food bank operator was heard talking about poverty. The Hotline staff-person said she found a quotation to the effect from the 1800’s that-at the manner in which we think about poverty keeps people mired in human lack. And that is just as true today as 100 years ago.

Foolish me I thought it was I lacked enough funds to pay my bills.

Could it be something as simple as believing it costs 1% of the worlds wealth to end poverty, to end human suffering?

Could paying 100% of all people 110% of the need mean that all of the formerly underpaid remained housed?

What are your thoughts on curing poverty?

Did Christ say The poor will always be with us, in speaking about greed of the non-poor?

To cure poverty one must only be willing to work. There is no reason in America for anyone who is able-bodied to not have a home.

Our “poor” live better than the middle-class of other developed countries. They have three meals a day (many are even obese), they have their own home equipped with cable, a telephone, video games, heat and air conditioning, working appliances, indoor plumbing, etc.

Anyone who is not severely retarded or severely disabled can earn enough money to live a pretty good life.

It’s not the greed of the “non-poor” that hurts people, it’s the laziness of the slackers who choose not to work.
