Is it a good idea for a college student to use a student loan to pay for off campus housing?

My friend’s son wants to rent an apartment off campus with a friend of his. They go to a university in a small, rural community with cheap rent. He found out (and being familiar with the area I believe this to be true) that off campus housing, including food, is actually cheaper than living on campus. My question is: do you think that it is advisable to use his private (non federal) loans to pay for housing off campus. He does have a scholarship that pays for all of his tuition and fees, so really all he has to pay for is the housing. He doesn’t work during school, only during the summer. That’s not enough for him to pay rent with the rest of the year, especially with the summer classes he plans to take.

Why won’t people let me rent a room in san francisco?

I think it’s cause I’m young. Age 18, but I am working full time, and schooling part time. I make about 2000 a month only, but some rooms only cost 800 a month, and I got alot of savings to buy furniture and etc. I don’t have much of a credit history, but no credit is better than bad credit right? And I even offer to pay deposit, 1st and last months rent.

This is for renting rooms, NOT apartments. I will have roommates, but its so hard for me to find it…

Should I move to Hawaii?

Im moving out of my dads house, and I live in a northern town in Ontario, Canada. I have 6000+ dollars in the bank account, but I dont want to settle for working some meteoqure job in a rather meteoqure city, where the only exiting thing to do is snowboard, and that is highly determined on only one season of the year, and to whether or not there will be any snow. I was thinking about moving to Hawaii, where there would be the year-round sport of surfing, the beautiful landscapes and ocean, and simply, a big change. However, I am unsure of how to get a green card, and if upon my arrival, I would actually be able to find a job. The worst thing that could happen is I arrive in Hawaii, rent an apartment, and my money runs out to the point I cant keep up rent, or it would be too hard or financially straining for me to start over, and come back home. I just dont want to end up homeless, and I want this to work. Any advice?

Do I have to pay rent after my landlord files bankruptcy?

My landlord filed bankruptcy and I need to know if I have to continue paying him rent. I am listed as a creditor with the bankruptcy trustee. The house is in foreclosure and will be sold by the bank. (it is income property, not his residence). I am now stuck, because I am not sure if I still need to pay rent to the landlord or wait for the trustee or bank to contact me.

Rental home rented thru a prop mgtmnt, but another realtor was hired to short sale the house, what can I do?

Rented a house on Feb 15, 2008 from an owner via a property mgtmt group. Then on March 22, recieved a letter from another realtor that says the house is in pre foreclosure and they are going to do a short sale. Do I have any rights what so ever? The original property mgtmnt had no idea that is was in foreclosure.
