To the people living in New York, Los Angeles and any other Major City with high demands on homes /condos?

OK, To all those people. I have 1 simple question.

How can you guys afford the rent? I mean. Im going to move to New York soon or maybe los angeles. Im looking for a single bedroom condo/apartment. I’ve been looking at some and there around $400,000.00 for a single bedroom. How can someone pay that off working in a factory/store getting paid $10.00 a hour? Is there different payment plans out there or what?

PS. Just a question. I really wanted to start my own life without any help from my parents but since Im not going to be able to afford a $500,000.00 apartment in NY, my parents are going to sell one of there homes to get me an apartment.. But if you guys know if theres any payment plans i would like to know…So i can try to live on my own without help. Many Thanks!
I fell your pain Aurora. My parents house here in the mid-east is a 40,000SQ house with 9 bedrooms and 15 baths. They built it 2004 for around 3M. Its funny how our beach house in Malibu is around 1,000SQ with 3 bedroom and single bath but its almost twice the price of out own home! California is such a beautiful place to live but the rent is hell!

move into mansion or stay at condo?

I currently live in a nice 2 bedroom condo in downtown. There is a house which 3 other roommates and i could live in, and it is a huge mansion. Do I give up the more private, convenient condo for a large mansion with amenities? The house is 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, for 4 guys. The rent would calculate to be around the same. Currently, I can walk to work and park in my condo. If I move, I will have a 20 minute commute to work. The house is 3600 sf, and the condo is around 1000 sf. For four guys living there, it would be plenty of space. I just don’t know if I want to give up the convenience. The other roommates are cool professionals, and we would definetily have some parties. It sounds fun, but in the end, is it the right thing to do? I am 27/bachelor/straight.

Is any of you in the RealtyEstate bussiness in MIAMI.I need advice on buying a house to rent and make a profit

At this time my wife is stationed in Japan with AirForce and I work in Iraq. We will not move back to the united states until 2008-2009.
My wife is fixed on her decision to buy a house in her home town Miami, where she has family.
She wants to buy it and rent it out for the next three years and then sell it for a profit. She is under somewhat pressure from the family because at this time the RealtyEstate in miami dade is the hottest biz.
I am looking for “advice” on the subject from people that are from Miami and can help me with my research, maybe point me in a few directions. Thank you much for reading my lengthy story.

Please help me decide?

I know that the smarter choice for us is to buy a house, but my brother offered to rent his house to us, and we were not going to go for it because we were wanting a payment cheaper than what we are paying now. They were wanting what we are paying now. Well i got this number for this lady who is sorta like a house hunter and I told her my situation of my payment range. Ok well the same day my sister in law calls and lowers the rent which is now more reasonable for us!! We would like to get out of renting but we have to let our land lord now by the first if we are moving. I can’t find a house to buy in the range that we are wanting in that short of notice, because you can’t ruch those things. What do we do, **** it up and rent more and keep paying the way to expensive rent we are paying now until we can buy a home? Sorry so long but i need to know

If I were living at home rent free, Am I still eligible for student loan?

living at home rent free, Am I still eligible for student loan? I still have many expenses to pay, so I need a student loan.
I am 26 years old, and already have one bachelor’s degree. Currently am pursuing a second bachelor’s degree. I have bad credit.
I listed myself as independent on the fafsa. but when the fafsa asked me if i was living at home, I put “yes”. I went back to try to edit that question and put “no” instead, but i couldn’t find that question again online on my fafsa.

I just thought it would be better to tell them that i was paying rent. because i was worried it would affect my eligibility for student loans.

Instead of letting our leaders choose what they do with our taxes, should we vote on it?

Imagine if we could choose how to spend our own taxes. Things like schools, police departments, fire departments, libaries and other practical public services would get top priority.

As opposed to being the institutions that get funding cuts.

Do I still have to pay rent to a house that is already foreclosed and the bank owns?

I am renting 1 bedroom and 1 bath from a house that underwent foreclosure and now belongs to the bank. Eviction notices are sure to be coming, and we are looking to move, but at this point, are we suppose to pay rent to the the other tenant, even if he himself has stopped paying rent for the house. I need an official/legal answer, not just opinions saying ” I wouldn’t pay.”

THANKS
